When to harvest weed

Each grower has a different perspective on when to harvest their cannabis plants. Some prefer to harvest early, while others prefer to wait. When you harvest depends on a variety of circumstances. 

It’s probably not the end of the world if you harvest weed a week early or late, but don’t leave your plants sitting around for too long. But it is important to make a difference between indoor and outdoor plants. 

Outdoor 

Because outdoor weed - just like any kind - needs warmth, the harvest period in Europe is between September and November. Most cannabis plants are unaffected by a light cold (0 celsius to minus -2 for up to three hours), but a hard freeze for a longer time can be disastrous. 

Indoor

Plants are collected about 7-9 weeks after they’ve gone into blossom when grown indoors. It depends on the strain whether it takes longer or shorter. Sativas frequently take longer to finish than indicas. 

Stigma & Trichomes 

Look for the following signs that your marijuana plants are ready to harvest, both indoors and out. Always check its stigma, the hair-like strands that cover the buds. These will change color from white to orange and curl. The trichomes are the plant’s resin glands. They will change color from clear to opaque and amber.
